11.1 Spanish Speaking Countries

 What are the business practices, proper protocol, and greetings in a Spanish- speaking country?  How do the business practices of a Spanish Speaking country relate to the cultural dimensions and communication styles?

 Research Presentation- Business Communications in Spanish Speaking Countries  Research Presentation: Business Communications in Spanish-speaking Countries: 320 minutes  Divide students in groups of 3 students.  Each group will be assigned a Spanish-speaking country listed in the book, Kiss, Bow, or Shake Hands (Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela).  Their task will be to design a five-minute PowerPoint or Prezi presentation on their assigned country to be presented to the class.  To assist in their research, students need to use the Presentation Organizer.  Also, distribute to each group the Presentation Rubric to use as a guide. Their notes for the presentation will be turned in for evaluation.  Give students 2 – 3 class periods to prepare their presentation.  Each group will give their presentation to the class.  After each presentation, ask if class members have any questions and discuss briefly with the class.  Use the Presentation Rubric to grade the presentations.

 Intercultural Dimensions of Business Communications Summary: 20 minutes  Complete the following assignment in their journal:  Select two cultural dimensions or communication styles and explain how these dimensions or styles can cause challenges between cultures in a business setting and describe possible ways to address these challenges.
