JQA Mission Our mission is to support the educational achievement of our student body. JQA Vision Our vision is to encourage students to use the library as a starting point for experiences throughout the rest of their lives.

JQA Image We have the image of a welcoming and fun learning environment. JQA Position Our position within the JQA High School is to promote exchange of knowledge for the students we serve.

Hours of operation Monday - Friday 6:00am – 8:00pm Saturday 8:00am – 1:00pm Sunday – Closed Hours of the JQA school day 8:20am – 3:10pm

Our community Our population is made up of 9th-12th grade high school students. Current population = 4,608 total 9th grade = 1,125 10th grade = 1,236 11th grade = 1,199 12th grade = 1,048 We’re in District 217 serving the surrounding towns of Andersonville (64,127), Carthage (55,483), Park City (37,484), and Quincy (88,797). The average household income of the families in our district is $46,000.

Our collection In support of our students and faculty, JQAL maintains a print collection of relevant materials. This primarily consists of duplicate copies of current textbooks used in classes and supplement materials as recommended by teachers. As more resources have moved online we have directed funding towards databases and e-resources. Students have accessibility to all online resources via their school login both in school and at home. Since our collection is primarily digital, more space has been allowed for work tables, a recording studio, and a computer lab.

Services Recording Studio Computer Lab Internships within the library This studio is available to current JQA students for work on official class assignments.  Students must present a valid School ID.  Prior to using the recording studio, the student must receive training from a staff member. Annual Book Drive & sale Each year JQAL holds a book drive where students, teachers, staff and the general public can donate used books for our annual book sale Last year profited $4,345

Fashion show fundraiser Two years ago the JQAL partnered with the GBCC, elective fashion & design courses at JQA, and extra curricular clubs to put on a fashion show fundraising event. Students, teachers, and staff participate and community groups, businesses, and the local Park City Mall contribute sponsorship and resources. Last year’s profit: $6,200

Action goals Increase the graduation rate In 2012, out of the classes of 1,048 seniors, 41 students didn’t graduate. We would like to contact these students and survey them to figure out what happened. Based on what we learn we would like to explore the possibility of offering GED classes on nights and weekends to assist this portion of our student body. Increase library hours, particularly during finals, and promote the library hours more Experiment with using Google Analytics on the library webpage to determine areas of highest use.

Action goals Further develop the relationship with GBCC and ask for their recommendations Develop workshops at the beginning of the school year for each grade level. We will collaborate with teachers to determine individual course needs and how the library can provide supplemental materials. We will also use this opportunity to introduce students to the available resources.

Recommendations We would like to start visiting all middle schools that funnel into JQA so we can prepare our future library users We would like to hold more freshmen classes in the library to get students more acquainted with our services during their four years We would like to change the study hour location from the cafeteria to the library We would like to be open on Sundays from 10am – 2pm
