Duties of a School Librarian Encourage and model a love of READING! Collaborate with teachers to design instructional activities Teach students how to find and use information from: Books and other print resources On-line databases Internet

Duties of a School Librarian (cont.) Search for books, online and web-based resources to support instruction Order books and materials for the library collection Serve on district and school committees Help teachers with technology issues and problems Make the library a friendly, fun place to be!

Education/Training Required Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university Master’s Degree in Educational Media or Library Science Professional teaching license School Librarian Endorsement (State Test) Minimum of one year classroom teaching experience

Skills Needed A School Librarian must: Have excellent reading and writing skills Be able to use and apply current information technology Understand curriculum design, teaching and instruction Be a team player Communicate well with others Exhibit good problem solving abilities
