This is how the body of Christ is built up. Whether you have the calling of an apostle (or church planter), an evangelist (or outreach), a teacher (small group facilitator), or a pastor (leading the flock), all of us are called to a ministry that builds up the body of Christ (the Church). No other ministry is more important. Eph 4:11-12 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” CTW is committed to making disciples. We have various areas that make this task possible, i.e., worship service, small group communities, Sonday School, Ministry training & opportunities, & the One-To-One Discipleship encounters. Sunday: April 28, 2013 Excerpt from Service on September 23, 2012 – “Graveyard Revival” 1. REVIVAL COMES AFTER WE RECOGNIZE THAT WE NEED IT. God had good reason to show Ezekiel a valley full of dried bones. It was a Graveyard! A. God showed Ezekiel dry bones as a visual metaphor. He was describing the condition of Israel. V 11: Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, 'Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off.'” Israel is feeling hopeless, dried up, & disconnected,; they were at a state of spiritual despair. Emotionally & spiritually, they are dry & they doubted that anything could be done. But thank God that in their hopelessness they were able to recognize their spiritual need. B. No one attempts to repair something if they don’t think it’s broken. We’re not ready for a new work of God in our lives until we can pray, “It’s me, O Lord, standing in the need of prayer.” Here are a few times that we need to pray for renewal. When we have something against others but have not made it right. We can’t be right w/God, yet wrong w/others at the same time. It contradicts God’s Word. Also, we need renewal when we fail to fully obey God’s Word, i.e., tithing, evangelizing, praying, not gossiping, being filled w/the Holy Spirit. If you fall short in any of these, you need spiritual renewal. Believers can’t disobey God without feeling conviction. Anyone who doesn’t feel conviction after disobeying God’s Word needs a fresh encounter w/God. C. Some of us have been lazy in serving God. Some are too busy because others won’t hold up their own weight. Less than 20% of our members tithe faithfully; over 80% refuse to tithe (occasionally they give a small offering). What does that do to the rest of us who faithfully give? They are burdened. Gal 6:5 “For each will have to bear his own load.” We have more than 80% of members in small groups, but less than 40 % are in ministry. That puts a heavy load on the faithful because they have to double up. The uncommitted can actually find verses to support their position thru their interpretation of the Word. What some call interpretation is really unbelief. For example God says to forgive but we give forgiveness another meaning. Others get angry when confronted for behaviors unbecoming a Christian, and they defend their anger. Too many have become selfish, wanting their own way instead of God’s way. If this described any of us, we need a spiritual renewal.
