1 CTW has two organized & structured worship services, but only one of the two are viewed & accepted as a worship service. We have a structured Sunday morning worship service, and we have a structured mid - week prayer service that meets for 3 hours a month (1 ½ hr service each ). In 2014 we will be casting an old vision anew. Jesus said, " It is written, ' My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers“ ( “Matt 21:13). CTW will return to corporate prayer services where everyone will understand we have 2 services. Every member of CTW should view Wednesday as they do Sunday. 1712 E Busch Blvd,Tampa, FL, 33612 (corner of 18 th Street) 813-935-0738 Office email: theway1712e@gmail.com - www.ctw1712.com Pastor: Louie Vega Lead Worshipper: Vicky Vega Administrator: Tom McIntosh Small Group Director: Andrew May Young Adults: Joey & Dinah Children’s Director: Becky McCleary Welcome Center: Rosa Moreno Pantry Ministry: John Moreno December 22, 2013 Christmas Sermon Connect to God, Connect to One Another, & Connect to The Community… Church of The Way would like to wish you & your Family a blessed & merry Christmas. We’re not in a hurry to get this going. Lottie Moon offering will be collected next Sunday, 12/29/13. If you are not going to make service for whatever reason, please submit your offering today, We will include it in the Lottie Moon offering next week. Thank you for praying about this, & thanks for giving. The end of the year is here, & tax season is approaching. If you have any offering that you wish to get in before the year is out, so that you can include it in your tax filing for 2013, what better place then your church. All tithes & offerings are tax deductable. Thanks! You will be seeing 2 minute prayer slips being given out. This is part of our prayer initiative and we hope you take the slips serious. The church is being called to prayer all year from 12 noon to 12:02 (two minutes). Tom will be asking us to pray for one another. Expect a prayer slip every service so that we can pray Mondays thru Saturdays. Bathroom Access cards are in the Welcome Center. Please Return it. Proclaim icon appears on screen. Close Sundays @ 9 AM John 2:14-17 In the temple He found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money - changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And He poured out the coins of the money - changers and overturned their tables. And He told those who sold the pigeons, ‘Take these things away ; do not make My Father ' s house a house of trade. ’ His disciples remembered that it was written, ‘Zeal for Your house will consume Me. ’” Jesus was furious when He found His Father’s house anything other then the House of prayer. We commercialize the church with all types of things, but God’s House shall be called a house of prayer. The church must permeate an aroma & atmosphere of prayer. This is what distinguishes the church as God’s people. In the church we preach the gospel, but the church is not called the house of Preaching – God’s house shall be called a house of prayer. We have great Music & singing in the church, but the church is not called the house of music ; God’s house shall be called a house of prayer. How was the church born ? Acts 2 tells us they were together praying, & the Holy Spirit moved and the church was born. When Peter & John were arrested in Acts 4, did they get lawyers, did they go to the Supreme Court, did they protest ? NO ! They went to a prayer meeting – they lifted up their voices in corporate prayer. Paul gave instructions to Timothy, and explained the priority for the church : “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people” (1 Tim 2:1). Prayer is a “first of all” situation. It’s not suppose To be an after thought, or a “let - me - see - if - I - can - squeeze - it - in” event. Paul is telling Timothy not to do anything as a church until this priority is in place. He says of the men : “I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or Quarreling” (1 Tim 2:8). Corporate prayer is critical. Corporate prayer is so important to God that He keeps them in bowls. “And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty - four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints” ( Rev 5:8). 2014 will be the year that CTW develops a holy culture of corporate prayer, as outlined by the New Testament. It is our desire for members to love Wednesdays the way they love Sundays.
