בניה : ברכה שנהב Many years ago the Greeks occupied Israel. They put statues in the Jewish temple and asked all the Jewish people to pray to the Greek gods and not to their own god.

A Jewish Rabbi, Mttiho, called upon all his sons, the Macabim, to resist the Greeks.

Although they only had a small number of soldiers compared with the strong Greek army, the Macabim fought the Greeks and won.

The Macabim returned to the temple and broke all the Greek statues.

But they were very sad, because there was no oil to light the temple lamp.

Suddenly Judea a Maccabi, found a little jug of oil, and lit the lamp.

A miracle happened, and the small jug managed to light the lamp for eight days

The Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah to remember this miracle. We light the candles for eight days, eat fried food and play with a spinning top.
