Scheduling of Core Rotations These must be completed in the period assigned. You must set all of these up yourself. You will have a period of time that you are allowed to switch cores with your classmates; however, if you are at a remote site, you may only trade with students at your same site. Core rotations follow the same deadlines as electives. No cores have been assigned periods 13,18 and 19. (Some exceptions)

How Do I Switch a Core Rotation? Prior to the deadline (TBA) Find someone with whom you want to trade. Both parties must the Clin Ed account requesting the trade. You will receive confirmation of the trade. After the deadline Find someone with whom you want to trade. Both parties must complete the appropriate paperwork (i.e. request for schedule change) Ask your coordinator for exact paperwork. Make sure you meet the scheduling deadline

Emergency Medicine No location is assigned Only limited spots at JPS, Plaza, and Harris Any site that is a teaching hospital or any of our affiliated sites (that offer the rotation) are acceptable to do your Emergency Medicine rotation. A Pediatric Emergency Medicine rotation will meet our core requirement. (Please specify on your paperwork if you are doing a pedi EM rotation.)

Geriatrics No location is scheduled Allowed to do it at any approved site (with approved course number) (Check our website) riatrics.htm riatrics.htm Submit curriculum approval requests to our office

3rd Year Elective or Primary Care Partnership It is your responsibility to schedule either the Core Primary Care Partnership or an Elective rotation in Year Three. Your Primary Care Partnership (PCP) must be in one of the following disciplines: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, or Pediatrics. It must be clinic based (ambulatory), and has to be with an approved preceptor off of an approved list. Please see the lists below for PCP options: Approved Preceptors for PCP :: Family Medicine Approved Preceptors for PCP :: Internal Medicine Approved Preceptors for PCP :: OMM Approved Preceptors for PCP :: Pediatrics

How Do I Apply? ● Locate a rotation of interest (VSAS, Freida, DO Opportunities, etc.) ● VSAS-Visiting Student Application Service- Online application service for over 115 host institutions. Log-in information will be sent after the holidays. ● Complete the application process for that site ● Forward approval to Clinical Education along with online Rotation Request by the posted deadline ● Cancel all other pending applications for that period ● If you apply at an affiliated site, do not assume that you will automatically be approved. ● Locate a rotation of interest (VSAS, Freida, DO Opportunities, etc.) ● VSAS-Visiting Student Application Service- Online application service for over 115 host institutions. Processing Applications General Guidelines FAILURE TO SUBMIT THE APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK AND APPROVALS BY THE DEADLINE MAY RESULT IN YOU NOT RECEIVING CREDIT FOR THAT ROTATION. Cancelations must be received no less than 30 days in advance of the start of the requested period. After the deadline, students with two approved rotations for a requested period run the risk of having a rotation canceled without their permission. No applications to Clinical Education until you are notified.
