The “Stinky Cheese” Man’s Friend Hold your nose and click on the Stinky Cheese Man above to hear our author Jon pronounce his last name and learn other cool stuff like where his ideas come from! Introducing…

JON SCIESZKA Jon Scieszka has five brothers. He is the “second oldest and the nicest!” When he was a boy, he made his mother read “Green Eggs and Ham” a million times. Dr. Seuss made him realize that books could be goofy and great at the same time! He was a teacher. After helping his second graders rewrite fairy tales, he thought he would take a year off and see if he could publish some of his own. He got a lot of rejection letters before his first book was finally published. A lot of publishers thought his writing was too weird! Boy, were they wrong! He gets his ideas from lots of places. His daughter made him read the Gingerbread Man over and over like he made his mom read Dr. Seuss. Jon got tired of reading the book and tried hiding it but his daughter always found it. Then he wondered, What If the woman ran out of ginerbread? What if she made it out of Stinky Cheese? Would people and animals still chase it? Would this make a great book? Wacky! Zany! WEIRD!

YES! All of his twisted stories make kids laugh

Guess who wrote the Time Warp Trio? There are over 10 books in the Time Warp Trio series. They have even been turned into a television show. Catch it on Saturday mornings on Discovery Kids~ or click on the Jon Scieszka cartoon above to go to the Time Warp website for great mysteries to solve and cool games to play!

The Dynamic Duo! Jon became good friends with an illustrator, Lane Smith. Both Lane and Jon grew up playing dirt clod wars with their brothers! Lane and Jon laugh at each other’s bad jokes all the time They are a perfect pair because publishers first thought Lane’s drawings were too weird just like Jon’s stories! Lane’s characters tend to have big heads on small bodies! Lane drew the picture of Jon on the left and illustrates all of Jon’s books including the latest book about an alien called Baloney who gets his words all mixed up!! Jon calls his pen a “page biter.”

And There’s More…to Read! Click on the Baloney book on the left to play a cool game NOW!

If you are a boy and not too crazy about reading, Jon Scieszka has his own website called “GUYS READ” for FEARLESS readers with guaranteed books you will like!

You can learn more about Jon and Lane comic book style! Click on Jon or Lane below when you have minutes!

And now… for our grand finale! We will be performing a puppet show of Jon Scieszka’s first book, the “True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!” by A. Wolf " What if the wolf was innocent? What if the wolf just had a cold? What if…? Jon Scieszka wants you to “THINK ABOUT IT!”

Jon Scieszka’s Motto: Never Underestimate… Kids can be Silly AND Smart! Have Fun Reading
