 Wayne County is located on the West side of New York  Wayne County borders Lake Ontario  The county has a mountainous terrain because of the Pocono mountains  It borders the counties of Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, and Cayuga.

 The rivers in my county are the Clyde River, the Seneca River, and the Oneida River  The watersheds in my county are the Clyde River Watershed, the Seneca River Watershed, and the Oneida River Watershed This photo depicts the Clyde River

 The mountain range in my county is called the Pocono Mountains.  The Pocono Mountains are about million years old.  There are lots of resorts that are built in the mountain range.

 The Cayuga and Seneca tribes were an Iroquoian speaking tribe that lived in the area of Wayne County.  They are Hotinoshonni (People of the Longhouse)

 The habitats are mountain ranges, farmlands, wetlands, lakes and rivers, state parks, and forests  The lake is called Sodus Bay  The state park is called Great Sodus Bay  The forest/marsh is called Lake Shore Marshes  The farmland is called Hippbrook Preserve  The wetlands is called Montezuma Wetlands

 Even though there are many industries in my county, I think that the most important one is the transportation and warehousing  The transportation supplies people with cars, planes, and trains. The things who can ride are people, and cargo  The warehousing supplies people with space to put cargo and warehouse to store them in

 Some problems that must be dealt with to protect the soil and water resources in my county are the drugs and chemicals.  There has also been nuclear waste from power plants destroying habitats and homes.

Type of Energy% of County Energy Composition Renewable 33% Hydroelectric 29% Nuclear 30% Oil 2% Gas 24% Coal 16% My region is healthier than the national mix because it has a large percentage of renewable and hydroelectric power

 There are many landfills and a lot of air pollution from incinerating garbage  Improvements that could be made:  Incinerate the landfills in an airtight place so the pollution is out of the air and then use the ashes to make fertilizer.  More waste to energy facilities

 A climate smart community is a community that meets the expectations to stand up to the environmental challenges that pose a threat to the county. There are no climate smart communities in my county.  All of these schools competed in Envirothon in my county.  Canaan Christian Academy  Delaware Valley  Wayne Highlands  Wallenpaupack  Western Wayne High School
