My Personal Literacy History Abby Gajewski EDR 514 December 2, 2009 Dr. Bob Akland

Early reads

Early years and Elementary School Reading with my parents and grandparents. Reading in school. Playing school at home. My own stories and poetry. Mrs. Holestein. Embarrassment and uninterested.

When I enjoyed reading… Having my teacher read to the class. Not testing for comprehension. Books my friends were reading.

High School Research papers. Shakespeare. The Scarlet Letter. Reflection journals. Increase in participation. Increase in interest. Teacher influence.

College. Choosing a major. Classes that made me love/hate reading. Deciding to become a teacher. What I want to pass onto my students. How I try to influence others.

What I enjoy reading now…in my free time Books that are being turned into movies. Nicolas Sparks. Holocaust stories. YAF to get ideas for future lessons. Magazines.
