Open to students who wouldn’t come to college under traditional means Students come with support person, works with professors, and Director to ensure that the best learning opportunities are made. Students audit classes and will leave with a certificate of completion through Syracuse University based on their areas of studies. Each student is supported in classes both during spring and fall semesters

Adult Human Service Agency Onondaga Community Living discovered this need and took a path by listening to people and their families who wanted to go to college and a 1:1 Day Hab was formed We learned about individuals true goals for higher education and their inability to find the support to achieve that OCL,University College, SU’s School of Education and the Office of Disability Services to help adults participate in college level classes along with other college peers

ACCESS The program is open to anyone interested in auditing classes that has a developmental disability and is Medicaid eligible The students range in age from There are currently 8 students registered Medicaid supports 120 hours or units for billable support The student pays 1/3 of the audit credit rate as well as University College 1/3 and School of Education 1/3

ACCESS Our college service, called ACCESS, maintains OCL’s current direction of providing personalized support in the most inclusive setting as possible. Each student has their own educational plan and registers for classes of their choice under the guidance of a University College Academic Advisor. Each student is pair up with a Campus Mentor who assists the student with whatever he or she needs to be academically successful

ACCESS Director of InclusiveU works Coordinator with each student, their professor, and campus mentor to ensure that the best learning opportunities are made. Students audit classes and will leave with a certificate of completion through Syracuse University based on their areas of studies. Each student is supported in classes both during spring and fall semesters and then participates in a variety of activities during the summer which blends well with the studies that are taking.

Success and Challenges Director meets with mentors, students and faculty to discuss modifications of assignments Maintain academic integrity of assignment when modifications are made Faculty is asked to offer feedback and grade assignments given although no official grade is submitted Students have seen improvement in academic ability

Individual first Jay Jay always had an interest in technology and helps run sound board at his church In collaborating with his advisor, she had a contact with a professor in the music department. He took his first class which led to an internship at a recording studio which led to him becoming a t.a. in 2 week intense class with graduate students on working with high school students with disabilities Is graduating in May with a non-credit certificate in Stage and sound board technology

Individual First Coin Had an interest in Religious studies upon entering college. He was a very structured, shy individual upon entering college. He now gives the campus tours for potential students and can adjust his day without much notice He has a circle of support that helped him choose a potential job on campus, he found a different one He graduated 2 years ago with a non-credit certificate in Religion, however PE is now passion
