The Great prophet By: Vikram Sambharya P.3

 Born in 570 CE in Mecca located in Middle East  Became an Orphan and was taken care of by his uncle  He became a merchant and got married in Mecca  While being exposed to monotheistic ideas, Muhammad was not happy with material life

 An angle tells Muhammad that he is a profit, and soon enough he starts to gather followers. Under threat from the Umayyad clan Muhammad flees to Medina. This is the journey that Muslims will take each year called hijra. After attacks and battles, Muhammad got Arabs to convert to Islam. This was the beginning of a great world religion created in the post-classical period

 The previous story relates to many other cultures around the world in the classical and post-classical eras.  Major world religions like Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism consolidated many smaller groups  Ex. In India Hinduism acted as glue and kept the society together and united all people in India who were Hindus

 In the Middle East, Islam gave people a common religion which soon lead to the Umayyad and Abbasid eras  Muhammad’s religion is an example of unity and consolidation

IslamWorld Bedouin tribes convert to IslamIn western Europe, during middle ages, the pope and Church had power over everyone One common God, Qur’an, and 5 pillars are standard for all Muslims In Hinduism, the caste system made society a cohesive unit Islam gave way to an advanced centralized empire The Byzantine empire was strongly centralized with its world class capital in Constantinople Themes Consolidation Unity Centralization The theme that was created by Muhammad in Islam is present in many places around the globe. These three themes are also present in the spread of Islam to Africa and Southeast Asia
