Room 8 at Ferrymead

The Tram We could see the sea when we went on the tram. We had fun. There was a dog on the tram. The tram went backwards and forwards. We saw a rainbow. It was slow and bumpy. We sat inside because it was too cold.

The Bakery We made cookies at the bakery. We used a rolling pin. We put chocolate buttons on the top of our biscuits. Some of us made a gluten free biscuits. The old oven was heated by fire. When the oven was cold the little boys had to climb in and clean it.

The School House. We practised handwriting and sloping. We practised our two times tables. We read a poem. Mr Green the teacher had a cane. Mr Green had to be called sir. The classroom didn’t have heaters but they had a fire instead.

The shop We went to the shop to buy some food. We had to weigh the rice to get the right amount to buy. At the shop you could buy: Cough lollies Black balls Apples Potatoes Onions Soaps Pegs Packets of buttons Sugar cubes Nash and Benny are counting out black balls and cough lollies to buy.

The Games There were lots of old games to play including: Stilts Knuckle bones Bubbles Spinning tops Gingerbread man Cup and ball catcher Flip jack Horse Wooden fish and rods Timmy and Benny are playing with the spinning tops. Isabella is trying to walk on the old wooden stilts.

This old painting was outside at Ferrymead and it had holes in it where you could put yourself into the scene! Benny, Oliver, Troy, Tracey and Timmy are in the old painting.
