Hertz is an American car rental company with international locations in 145 countries worldwide.

LOCATION Hertz operates in 145 countries. Outside the US, Hertz has company-operated locations in 18 countries, the rest being franchises. As of December 2012, the Company had approximately 3,210 staffed rental locations in the United States and around 1,215 staffed rental locations internationally

History 1918 The company was founded by Walter L. Jacobs renamed it "Hertz Drive-Ur-Self System" 1925 sold a controlling interest in the Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Company to General Motors purchased the remaining shares Hertz arranged for The Omnibus Corporation, which he also owned, to purchase the car rental business back from GM.

Gross Income Hertz Car Rental & Sales faces tough competition from companies such as Avis. In our report we analyze the gross income of the company between Hertz Car Rental generated a positive net income of $284.2 million The company had a negative net income of $1,185.9 million. This was due to the economic recession in Hertz Car Rental experienced another negative net income of $111.3 million Hertz Car Rental generated more than $1 billion in revenues according to the online article found on Yahoo! Finance. This was a $100 million increase from the revenues Hertz Car Rental experienced at end of the 2009 fiscal year. It also allowed Hertz Car Rental to open 250 more locations in the off-airport market.

Worldwide revenue for the full year 2013 was $10.8 billion, an increase of 19.4% over the prior year. – U.S. car rental revenues for the year increased 29.2% to $6.3 billion. International car rental revenues for the year increased 5.0% (a 4.7% increase excluding the effects of foreign currency) to $2.4 billion. – Revenues for worldwide equipment rental for the year increased 11.0% (an 11.5% increase excluding the effects of foreign currency) to $1.5 billion.

Hertz’s Continuous Growth Hertz Car Rental is currently in the process of expanding their business using the continuous growth strategy of market penetration to increase their sales and revenue in the off-airport market. Hertz Car Rental is increasing their off-airport locations to directly compete with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. They plan to double their market share in the off-airport market segment within the next 2-3 years. Like all companies, the orientation and emphasis on customer service is critical to the success of their business. Customer service is important to win market share, remain competitive and continue operations.

Having a global operational structure has allowed Hertz Car Rental to compete as equals against their competitors. Continuing expansion into global markets will create new customer relationships, bring in substantial revenue, and increase their market share. They have also set themselves apart from the competition by offering their Rent-it-Here/Leave-it-There program which allows consumers to rent a car for one way travel without having to worry about the obligation to return the car to its original Hertz Car Rental location. All of these strategies are the developed by the group of smart and skilled employees the company has.
