Why did we get a Parish Council? Starting point – unparished area Problem - No local representation Issue - Difficult for district council to judge needs Result - Local interests not met process to create parishes begins Early 2009 recruitment of SPC’s April 2009 SPC’s created.
Where are we now? Un-Parished area has now become: Elvetham Heath Shadow Parish Council Fleet Shadow Town Council Church Crookham Shadow Parish Council Each SPC has created a framework around which the councils can be run Schedule and run regular meetings Appointed Parish Clerk(s) Set budgets for the first year Set up communications network – notice board, website, s and newsletters Shadow Parish Council has no legal powers.
Where are we going? Public elections for Parish Councillors: CCPC will need 10 councillors – Volunteers required to: –Monthly meeting –A couple of hours each week – admin –Project work – newsletter – action points – local facilities Public involvement Public meetings – at least one a year Public opinion – your views voiced Communications – Website and Facebook
Where do we want to get to? Purpose built Community Centre – QEB Improved facilities for Church Crookham Play areas – Sports grounds – youth groups Enhancement of the local area Notice boards – community gardens – improved infrastructure Community forums Trouble shooting – project running – suggestion box This is your improvement budget!
