…the main objectives… Motivate teachers in secondary schools and students at teacher-training colleges to teach in English and use different kinds of pedagogical methods like cooperative learning Develop a curriculum including the main elements of water conservation contained in the EU Water Framework Directive as well as a development of environmental awareness

MAIN OUTPUTS Produce materials on water conservation Upgrade teacher skills to meet the challenges of the European reality

Why is education about water important? Tomorrow's society will need a curricula that are anticipating what will be the challenge in the future Knowledge of water problems and challenges can make people aware of how they use water as individuals, and the problem of pollution of water. They will also realize that water is one of the main economic and political challenges in the future Learning about water as a way to preserve peace

What methods should we use to teach students about water? Inductive methods where the students through their own activities acquire both factual knowledge and develop attitudes to water Cooperative learning: use of small groups so that students work together to maximize each student’s learning Entrepreneurship: chiefly concerned with the way that individuals and organisations create and implement new ideas and ways of doing things

CONTENTS Water can be included as a part of the curriculum in existing subjects – e.g in biology by measuring the quality of the water Integrated in literature, in religion, ethics, economics and social studies Used in subjects like music, dance and mime A curriculum where students from different countries work together with water as a common topic

PROJECT COMPLETED The Water Wisdom Project is to be completed with a conference in Norway in 2004 Children and students from different countries will be the centre of attention Workshops and seminars for children, students and teachers
