Objectives By the end of these activities, students will be able to: Have a range of words to use when describing themselves Identify the things they are good at Talk about things they like doing Understand that thinking about themselves, their strengths and preferences will have an impact on their learning and career choice

1. Three Word Me In pairs, think of three positive words to describe the other person, e.g. he is creative, trustworthy and organised. Try and make the three words different and unique to the person Submit the three words to your teacher who will read these to the class. The class must guess who the three words are describing.

2. This is Me Line up according to the length of your hair Line up according to your age Everybody has differences and preferences Sometimes differences and preferences are not visible and can’t be changed Complete the ‘This is Me’ worksheet.

3. The Shield Think about four things that you enjoy doing Draw pictures of the four things in each quarter of the shield Add your ‘Three Word Me’ phrase to the bottom of the shield

4. Reflection – Self Awareness How did you feel discussing your strengths with the class? How easy was it to find positive things to say about yourself? Was it easier/helpful to do this with somebody else? Why is it important to understand yourself? How might this information be helpful when you are making decisions about your future?
