ICT is… INTEGRATION not SUBSTITUTION

Digital Technologies: Making the most of them! Our aims are always English Language Learning aims. Every digital technology has a unique attribute which should be made the most of. Is the type of digital resource I’ve chosen appropriate to what I want to accomplish in my lesson? Judicious use of technology

The Judicious Use of Digital Technologies Questions to ask myself: Quality What is the unique attribute of the IT I chose? Is the quality good enough? Can a different IT serve me as well or better? Can a traditional source serve me just as well? Quantity  How much of the lesson will be taken up with the IT I chose? Use technology judiciously!

Review the checklist: APPROPRIATENESS of resource to lesson: Language level of the resource Age appropriateness Quality of resource Is it actually helping my students understand better – or is it just ‘cute’? Have I taken advantage of the particular attribute of the IT I chose? RELEVANCE of resource to lesson: Does it enhance student motivation? Does it cater to the learner differences in my class? Does it enhance learner autonomy?
