Presentation transcript:

 1.The perception of EDGES  2.The perception of SPACE  3. The perception of RELATIONSHIPS  4. The perception of LIGHT & SHADOW  5. The perception of the WHOLE/GESTALT

These skills are needed in addition to the 5 basic skills required for imaginative, expressive drawing : 1. Drawing from MEMORY 2. Drawing from IMAGINATION

 L-mode means the way your brain works when using its left side  R-mode means the way your brain works when using its right side

 Modern brain scientist now know that your left brain is your verbal and rational brain; it thinks serially and reduces thoughts to numbers, letters, and words.  Your right brain is your non-verbal and intuitive brain; it thinks in patterns, or pictures, composed of whole things’, and does not comprehend reductions, such as, numbers, letters, or words.

 In order to gain access to the less used, visual, and perpetual R-mode of the brain, it is necessary to present the brain with a job that the verbal, problem solving L-mode will turn down.  In this class we will use many different ways to challenge the L-Mode and gain access to the R-mode of our brains.
