16 How can you access the Right Side of the Brain? Drawing requires that we access our Right Brain, or as I will refer to it, R-mode. To access R-mode we need to quiet our sometimes dominant Left Brain. We need to present our brain with a task that the left side will turn down. Our left side loves to name things, label them which hinders our ability to perceive them.

17 How can you access the Right Side of the Brain? Turn something upside down! It is hard to identify and label something when it is upside down and not easily recognizable. For the moment, the brain may become confused and then we must rely on just the shapes and areas of light and shadow that we perceive. Questions that you ask yourself when in R-Mode 1) Where does that curve start? 2) At what angle do these lines meet? 3) How long is that line relative to the one that I just drew?
