One of the most ageing regions in Europe 25/265 EU Regions’ Demographic Vulnerability Index Fertility rate: 1.07 (UE=1.58) 23.6% of population is >65 (EU=18.5%) Ourense: 8 th most aged NUTS III in the EU Life expectancy: 79.1 for men and 85.6 for women Population change/1000 inh

Who they are > ½ Million people 1/6 live alone= 110,000 elderly single households 4/5 prefer living at their home 1/5 has a 33% degree of disability or higher

Conclusions Demographic change needs to be tackled from a positive approach: –based on the potential of elderly people –Allowing them to live a healthy life at their own home as long as possible –Making sure their household is adapted to their needs. –Implementing innovative and cutting-edge solutions to promote personal autonomy
