Blues Music What is blues music? Where did blues and jazz start? What are two of the chords? Jamilla Dauda

What is Blues Music? Music played a very important part of African slaves since it was a way of life. Furthermore the most popular instrument that they loved to play was the drum, and they used to play it with the count of 4 and the notes 3 and 4 on the drum would be hit and the off beat would be 1 and 2. Here are some examples of other instruments that they used: Drum Jaw bone made into a scrapper. shaker Tambourine

Where did blues and jazz start? Blues and jazz started as thousands of Africans were sent to America in the 18 th and 19 th century and were treated like slaves. Furthermore those who worked for white people, depending on their skin colour made them work in a down graded area of the house, for example if you was black you had to clean the toilets. Another thing is that the fact that they were separated from their families and sent to a place where they knew nothing about, made lives horrible for Africans, this is what inspired them to sing and be free because although people were able to take them away from their home they couldn’t take away their voice and soul to sing.
