The Format  Round 1: Team Round with 6 questions  Round 2: The memory round Break  Round 3: The estimation round with 6 questions  Round 4: Team round 4 with 6 questions

Team Rounds  Team rounds will consist of 6 questions  No marks will be lost for an incorrectly answered question  Teams may work together on all questions

Round 1

Team Round 1 Question 1 Add half of 170 to a quarter of 140

Team Round Question 2 If the exchange rate for £1 is €1.14 How many Euros will you get for £40?

Team Round Question 3 There is enough toothpaste in a tube to last one person from the morning of January 1 st to the evening of March 1 st But if a family of 4 were brushing their teeth, how many days would the toothpaste last?

Round 2 - Memory

Memory Puzzle  We have hidden a picture of a mathematical puzzle. Two people from each team will take turns to view them. They must remember as much as possible so that they can describe it to other team members, who will try to make their own copy.  Only two from each team will be allowed to draw the puzzle. The two people who come out to look at the puzzles will not be allowed to draw anything.  Please decide who is drawing and who is observing and describing.

Memory Puzzle  There will be 3 opportunities to view the picture:  Each observer will see the first part of the picture once on their own.  Then there will be one chance for both observers to see the whole puzzle. Remember! Observers are not allowed to draw anything or use their hands in any way when explaining!

Memory Puzzle  You will be given between 20 and 30 seconds each time to look at the picture and remember as much as you can.  When you return to your table you will have 1 minutes to tell your team- mates what to draw.  Use the paper and pencils to make as many notes and drawings as you wish. At the end of this round we will take in ONE piece of paper from each team which should have the whole picture on it.  There will be bonus marks if you can answer a question based on the puzzle.

Memory Puzzle  Each team should hand in ONE sheet of paper.  Please make sure that the name of your school is on your paper!

 Now total all the numbers on your grid  Can you give me the largest prime number on the grid?  What is the smallest triangular number you can see?  Give me a cubed number below 10  Give me 2 numbers with 6 factors

The Estimation Round  There will be six estimation questions.  Two marks will be awarded for an answer that is exactly right.  One mark will be given for estimates that are close to the correct answer.
