SPEECH DELIVERY How to present a speech

Delivering with your body  Poise- being professional from when you stand up to when you sit down  Dictionary.com definition: a dignified, self-confident manner; composure; self- possession  Use a stance  Use correct movement or stay in one place  Don’t ever lock your knees

Delivering with your words  Don’t start with “k”  Don’t use vocalized pauses  Use professional words (avoid words like “stuff”)

Delivering with your hands  Either use gestures or keep your hands at your sides  Don’t play with your hair (keep it out of your eyes)  Hold your notes in the proper place  No Fidgeting!  Keep your hands out of your pockets

Delivering with your face  Smile  Use facial expressions  No gum!

Delivering with your eyes  Smile and wait for the audience to be ready  Give eye contact  Look all around the room
