Solving an Inequality Given the inequality, list some solutions that would make it true: x + 3 > 5 Possible Solutions: How many solutions are there?.

Addition & Subtraction Properties of Inequality If equal amounts are added to or subtracted from the expressions on each side of an inequality, the resulting inequality is still true. Test: Given the true statement: 3 > -2, If you add -4 to both sides is it still a true statement? Is 3 + (-4) > -2 + (-4)?

Use the Addition or Subtraction Properties of Inequality solve the following: 1) 2) 3)

If the expression on each side of an inequality are MULTIPLIED or DIVIDED by the same positive number, the resulting inequality is still true. If expressions on each side of an inequality are multiplied or divided by the same negative number, the inequality sign is REVERSED. Multiplication and Division Properties of Inequality

Example:

Solve each inequality: 1) 2) 3) 4)

Writing and Solving an Inequality: The goal of a toy drive is to donate more than 1000 toys. The toy drive already has collected 300 toys. How many more toys does the toy drive need to meet its goal? Write and solve an inequality to find the number of toys needed.

The unit cost for a piece of fabric is $4.99 per yard. You have $30 to spend on material. How many feet of material could you buy? Define a variable and write an inequality to solve this problem.
