What is fitness testing? Standardised tests of aspects of fitness

Why is it important? Clinical Classify disease risk Identify contraindications Identify baseline levels of fitness Use data to set program and Identify goals Educational?

Where is it used?

AFL Fitness testing Protocols Fitness Endurance- beep test and 3 kilometre run. Vertical Jump - vertical jump test Speed- 20 Metre sprint with a split times for the first 5 and 10 meters. Repeat Speed - an anaerobic sprint test- 6 x 30m run with a 20- second break each time. Agility- A specific agility test has been developed for AFL Flexibility- sit and reach test Physical Height, Weight, Hand Span, Arm Length Skinfolds- Psychomotor Decision Making Reaction Time Peripheral Awareness

Plan for today - RHR, MHR, BP - Step test- separate for males and females -Warm up -Stations -Beep test - Cool down -Questions

Testing Round 1: RHR, MHR, BP -Stay seated and still -Be patient -Take turns -Once finished all 3, go to hall Blood Pressure Measurement -Remove clothing on left arm -Place arm on table at 90 degree angle, supine -Place cuff just (3cm) above elbow -Ensure that switch is in right direction -Start pumping to inflate cuff -Listen for long beep -Stop pumping -Cuff will deflate, and show 2 readings along the way -Will show final systolic/diastolic readings
