Presentation transcript:

Good afternoon, Scholars! Please get a composition book from the stack at the front of the room.

History Notebook Set up We will use these notebooks EVERY day in class. EVERYTHING we do and EVERYTHING you learn will be kept in this notebook! It may NOT leave class unless you check it out.

Class color Each class has a color. This makes it easy to identify your class notebooks. As you set up your notebook, I will distribute your color tape. Place it on the binder towards the top. I will also place a post it note on your desk. LEAVE IT THERE! If you play with it, it will lose its stickiness! Like this!

Name US History Mrs. Jennings Class Period First Page You will write anything in RED !

DedicationAbout the Author I dedicate this history journal to___________. (Why?? Three or four sentences) (Your name) is an 8 th grader at Tidwell Middle School and…(3 or 4 sentences about you.) Turn the page…

Table of Contents And again…

Unit 1 Exploration And Colonization Turn the page…create the title page for our first unit.

Unit 1 Exploration and Colonization Grab a sticky note and write “ Exploration and Colonization ” on it. Stick it at the top of the Unit 1 Title Page. This will be your unit tab. Exploration and Colonization

When we take notes, you will ALWAYS organize the information in the following manner… LEFT SIDERIGHT SIDE Hand outs, fill in notes, maps, ANYTHING that needs to be glued in Opening or closing questions/notes that you take during lecture

Now comes the fun part… Look through the magazines and cut out any words or pictures that you would like to use to decorate your journal (school appropriate, please!) Glue them to your cover. When you finish, see me for contact paper that will protect your cover. Now look at your journal…admire it’s awesomeness. It will be your best friend in this class!
