Charles Babbage Born :26 December 1791,London, England. Died:18 October 1871 (aged 79) Marylebone, London, England Nationality: English. Charles was a Mathmatician, inventor, philosipher and a mechanical engineer. Charles has designed lot of machines and he was called the father of computers.

Charles Education Charles father was rich which allowed him to receive education from several schools and tutors during his elementary school. At the age of 8 years, his parent send him to a country school in Alphington in-order to recover from life-threatening fever. He attended so many schools but his health forced him back to private tutors for a time. He then joined a 30-student Holmwood academy, in Baker Street, Enfield, Middlesex.

Charles Education Continued The Academy had a well-stocked library that prompted Babbage’s love of Mathematics, he progressed his education and accepted at Trinity College, Cambridge in October 1810. In 1812 Babbage transferred to Peterhouse,Cambridge. He was the top mathematician at Peterhouse, but did not graduate with honours. He instead received an honorary degree without examination in 1814.

Marriage, Family, Death On 25 July 1814, Babbage married to Georgiana at Whitmore at St. Michael's Church in Teignmouth, Devon. They moved to 5 Devonshire Street, Portland Place, London. Charles and Georgiana had eight children, but only three stayed alive Benjamin Herschel, Georgiana Whitmore, and Henry Prevost — survived to adulthood. Georgiana died in Worcester on 1 September 1827. Charles' father, wife, and at least one son all died in 1827. These deaths caused Babbage to go into a mental breakdown which delayed the construction of his machines.

Marriage, Family, Death continued Charles Babbage died at age 79 on 18 October 1871, and was buried in London's Kensal Green Cemetery. Half of Babbage's brain is preserved at the Hunterian Museum in the Royal College of Surgeons in London. Grave of Charles Babbage

Charles Brain Charles brain is now put in the Science Museum in London.

Design of Computers Babbage figured out mathematical tables could be calculated mechanically . He developed his mechanical machine to be used as the first mechanical computers

Other accomplishments In 1824, Babbage won the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society. From 1828 to 1839 Babbage was Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge. Babbage also invented an ophthalmoscope
