LoF / LRS / RFID  LoF : 2017  LRS = UTS’ ASRS : 2014  RFID :  Large projects: collection-scale activities 2Millennium for RFID & ASRS

LoF  25% : open access  75% : underground robotic store = LRS LRS  Capacity: 950,000 items 3Millennium for RFID & ASRS

Millennium for RFID  Scoping - for tender, contract, etc : large review files test server – sandpit  RFID-tagging the collection : Review files – tag types, e.g. racetracks, donuts Data extract for conversion : ○ barcodes  RFID tags 4Millennium for RFID & ASRS

Millennium for RFID, cont.  Preparation for RFID tagging serial volumes : ○ Conversion to RFID relies on barcodes ○ Print serials previously not barcoded ○ Automated batch process designed to create variable numbers of item records for each serial title 5Millennium for RFID & ASRS

Using Millennium to prepare for RFID-tagging of serials Data is exported A program modifies the exported data Millennium Outside of Millennium Millennium Required number of item records created for each serial bib record. Data passes through a new load table & item record template 6Millennium for RFID & ASRS

Millennium for LRS  Collection analyses: to inform LRS design to plan logistics of moving collections for collection reviews, rationalisation & relegation  Review files to measure size of collections – by campus, material types, rare books, etc. Millennium for RFID & ASRS7

Millennium for LRS, cont  Height of books - tote bin size indicator MARC300 |c  Coding for control in underground store : retention indicator LRS code 8Millennium for RFID & ASRS

What else are we doing to prepare for LoF / LRS /RFID?  Experimenting with new programs, new spaces, new furniture, etc. 9Millennium for RFID & ASRS

What else are we doing?  Enhancing our discovery system viz virtual browsing for serendipitous discovery of books in underground store virtual bookshelves created dynamically on keyword searches, facets and tag cloud terms, with ability to browse content through Google Books Preview  Building research collections & promoting them via our discovery system (facets – MARC 590) Millennium for RFID & ASRS10
