leonardo da vinci Synopsis O Born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy, Leonardo da Vinci was concerned with the laws of science and nature, which greatly informed his work as a painter, sculptor, inventor and draftsmen. His ideas and body of work—which includes "Virgin of the Rocks," "The Last Supper," "Leda and the Swan" and "Mona Lisa"—have influenced countless artists and made da Vinci a leading light of the Italian Renaissance.

Who is Mona Lisa?

Researchers are currently lifting and testing bone sets from an Italian convent in hopes of identifying the remains of Lisa Gherardini, whom many believe to be the portrait’s subject. Those involved with the project to exhume her remains and use the skull to reconstruct her face say it will prove with more certainty that Mona Lisa is who they think she is, the wife of a Florentine silk merchant.

ABOUT MONA LISA The painting was completed in the year 1519, and it was since its completion that the painting has received high regards. The woman in the painting is placed absolutely calmly and quietly with hands folded. Most of the parts of the body are made to glow in the same light. This painting depicts the best example of sfumato, a technique of painting that gives Monalisa an enigmatic smile. Once the painting was completed it was acquired by the king of France, Francis I, and currently it is the property of the French Republic. It is displayed in Paris at the museum of Musee du Louvre.

When they turned over a new leaf it meant they were turning to a blank page in a workbook to start a new lesson. This could also be more generally used as to say you’re turning over a page of your life and starting a new
