Presentation transcript:

Innovation Workshop Session 3: Getting ideas, Mastering Tools, Creating Learning Activities

Activity: Learning Event Generator: 1 hour Davitt's Online Learning Event GeneratorDavitt's Online Learning Event Generator – you will use the Excel version on the next slide By the end of this session you will: Have selected a “Learning Event” using John Davitt’s Learning Event Generator Worked in a group to create a resource Investigated a tool and resources that use it on the Partners in Learning Network Thought about how you could use a tool to teach a concept Thought about how it felt to use ICT as part of a learning experience

Get into groups of three or four Each group will get one turn to select something from the Learning Event generator You will be asked to “DO” something “AS” something else For example: Do Pythagoras as a Windows Movie Do Democracy as an Interactive Classroom Poll Do The planets as a Photosynth During tea – think about how you would teach your concept using your tool After tea you will have 45 minutes to come up with an idea and if possible to make the resource. Your group will then have exactly 3 minutes to present to the rest of the group. Be creative – be silly – have fun – enjoy – there are no right answers – try something you haven’t tried before – learn from your colleagues – This is not for marks!

You can use for resources, ideas and tutorialswww.pil-network.com

Go to Under resources you will find loads of free tools to download and use. If you are unsure of how to use the tool – look at the tutorial If you want to see how other teachers have used your tool or taught your concept - search the Learning Activities for something similar Tweet about it! Which tool you are trying out? How does it feel to be using a new tool to do something you haven’t done before?

Showtime! Each group gets EXACTLY three minutes to: Show off their Learning Activity Describe the tool they used Say what they have learnt from this activity Use the online timer. When your time is up - you need to STOP!
