Planning History Highlighted in 1997 & 2003 Accreditation Reports Need for more comprehensive system Several iterations proposed and tested since 2003 President’s Direction in January 2007 –Establish a comprehensive ‘plan to plan’ –Include all component parts –Work with all constituency groups –Implement in Fall 2007 for Academic Year plan Strategic Planning System implemented in Sep 2007 –Working on campus community acceptance and understanding of the system

An Example Application Situation: Tracking data shows that the student support program that you are managing has had a rapid increase in the number of students that are being served. As you look at your next year’s departmental unit plan, you identify an adjacent area that needs to have a minor remodeling project done, some new office furniture installed and one additional classified staff member to meet the growing student needs. Q: How do you go about obtaining the resources that you’ve identified??
