Classical Europe BC Greece became known as the “Cradle of Democracy” First democratic government Athens wrote the first democratic constitution

Rome Rome-began as a monarchy, became a republic, and finally an empire Christianity began and spread through the Roman Empire The Eastern Roman Empire fell in AD 400’s Western Roman Empire fell in 1453 to the Ottoman Turks (modern turkey)

Medieval Europe-500’s AD AD Roman Catholic Church became a political power Crusades (holy wars) were sponsored by the church to take Jerusalem and Palestine from the Muslims

Medieval Europe-500’s AD AD Society was dominated by Feudalism. In this society kings gave land to nobles and lords who in turn provided knights to the kings for military service

WWI-war spread across Europe involving almost all countries and killing millions WWII-War between the Allied and Axis Powers which was started by Germany under the rule of Hitler (holocaust, Atomic Bomb, Kamikazes, Cold War-Global competition between the United States and Soviet Union to dominate the world’s governments and economies.
