The Steering Group

What is the Rights Respecting School Award? A Rights Respecting School is based on the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. In a Rights Respecting School, every child knows their rights and responsibilities. These mean EVERYONE should respect each others rights by being kind to each other, helping each other and including everyone in games and discussions.

What we have been doing in school We have done an assembly to let the pupils and teachers know about the award and their rights. We have sent a letter to all parents/carers to make them aware of what we are aiming to achieve. In class we have all been creating class charters. We have a rights respecting display in the front foyer.

What we have to do next We must ensure all children know and understand their rights and responsibilities. The Pupil Council and the Rights Respecting Group will work together to make charters for the playground and dining hut. We must ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities to the children.

Thank you for listening
