Introduction! Conclusion!

Essays contain 3 important elements: Introduction Body Conclusion

The introduction says what you’re going to talk about in the essay. It also contains your thesis sentence, which states the 3 to 4 things that you’ll be focusing on in your essay.

Many schools across the United States enforce a dress code policy. Capitol High School, in Baton Rouge, is one of those schools. At Capitol High School, students may wear red or yellow shirts, and khaki pants or shorts. But, there are lots of other requirements, too. At Capitol High School, girls cannot wear big earrings, and boys cannot wear earrings at all. Also, students have to use clear or mesh backpacks. Students also have to have natural hair color only. Additionally, students can’t wear hooded jackets or sweatshirts. Some parts of the dress code are very good, but there are some things that should be changed. Capitol High School should change its dress code policy so that we can carry canvas backpacks, boys can wear earrings, and students can dye their hair. There are many reasons why students should be allowed to carry canvas backpacks.

The body gives your argument for why you think that the dress code should be changed. The body of your essay expands on the 3-4 things mentioned in your thesis sentence. For every thing you’re going to talk about, you should have one paragraph in the body.

Example: Paragraph 1: Canvas bags Paragraph 2: Boys wearing earrings Paragraph 3: Dying hair

The conclusion is the last part of the essay. It summarizes what you’ve talked about in the body of the essay. Example: – In conclusion, I think the dress code at school should be changed. The things that should be changed are that students should be able to carry canvas backpacks, boys should be allowed to wear earrings, and students should be able to dye their hair.

Paragraph 1: Introduction Paragraph 2: Detail 1 Paragraph 3: Detail 2 Paragraph 4: Detail 3 Paragraph 5: Conclusion
