C LASSROOM MANAGEMENT P ORTFOLIO S ECOND GRADE Madison Lambert

R ULE 1 Respect the teacher and the other students in the classroom. Rational: Without respect in the classroom things could get hectic.

R ULE 2 Talk only at appropriate times. Rational: If children just talk freely during class you loose time trying to keep them quite, and other children might not be able to focus on their work.

R ULE 3 Try your best! Rational: If children in class don’t try their best then they might not put everything they’ve got into their school work.

H OW TO TEACH THE RULES I would split the class into three groups. Each group would get a rule. The group would act out their rule and other students have to guess what rule they have.

C LASSROOM LAYOUT

R ATIONAL FOR CLASSROOM Board: At the front so children can look forward to see lesson. Teacher’s desk: In the back so teacher can look at all students. ESOL student: In the front with one of the excelling students. Problem Student: Close to me with another excelling student to keep him/her on track. Pencil Sharpener: In the back so other students aren’t distracted when someone goes to sharpen their pencil. Supplies: In the back in line with the door so students see it when they first walk in.

C ONSEQUENCES Warning Card flip (each student will have a card on the wall) Isolation Phone call home Principal

R EWARDS At end of the week if card has not been flipped they get to visit the treasure box and get a prize out of it. If one group is doing something right while others aren’t they will get a sticker, whichever group has the most stickers at the end of the month get a special prize.

R OUTINE Supplies: At the beginning of each class students will look at the board to see whatever materials they will need for the day and go retrieve them from the supplies table. Attendance: while children are working I will look around and see whoever is absent. Sharpening pencils: Student will quietly get out of there seat and go and sharpen their pencil. Restroom: Student will raise their hand and I will dismiss them. Turning in work: Students will turn in work into the basket on my desk. Dismissing class: Students will sit in their seats until the bell and not crowd the door.
