8 th grade advanced math By: Juliana Burgos

 We only get out of our seats (to sharpen your pencil etc.)when instruction is finished or paused.  Rationale: If students get up during instruction to do something the other students will then be distracted and time will be wasted.

 Hands must be raised to talk.  Rationale: If students all talk at once it will cause confusion and waste classroom time correcting it.

 Late work will only be accepted if absent or excused by teacher.  Rationale: No work would be turned it on time if late work was allowed no matter what.

 Backpacks will be left in a corner of the classroom and students will take supplies needed to their desks.  Rationale: Texting in class will be eliminated and distractions will be minimal.

 Students will be expected to be respectful towards each other.  Rationale: If students were mean to each other they wouldn’t want to come to class.

 Students will be told the rules one day. The next day each group will be given a rule. Together they will act out the rule being broken and the rest of the class will try to guess it. Each group will have a buzzer and the first group to buzz in will get to answer. If they get it right, they get a point. If they get it wrong, the guess goes to the next team. At the end of the game all teams will be rewarded candy for their participation.

 Teacher’s Desk: The teacher will have a good view of everyone and make misbehaving hard to achieve.  Supplies: Eliminates distractions when a student needs something.  Board: The use of one board at the front of the room is more comfortable and eliminates the confusion of several boards.  Problem student’s seat: The problem student gets a nice comfy seat next to the teacher’s desk to minimize any misbehavior by being in front of the teacher’s watchful eyes. ESOL student’s seat: The ESOL student will be able to see the board and be able to ask questions easily. Pencil sharpener: No student will be distracted by Billy’s maniac pencil sharpening. The students will not be distracted or be interested in looking in the direction instead of listening.

 Right answers for questions will be rewarded with candy!  High tests grades will be rewarded with free homework passes!

1. Verbal warning 2. Privileges suspended 3. Isolation 4. Call home 5. Referal

 Papers will be passed out when there is extra time or when I deem it necessary.  A sheet at the front of the classroom will be signed before leaving the classroom. A pass will also be used (a wooden stick or other item) and one student at a time will go.  Pencils will preferably be sharpened when instruction is not going on unless completely necessary.  Supplies will be passed out by the “leader” of each group. The leader will fetch supplies and books for the whole group. The leaders will rotate every week. Some papers will be handed out at the door as students get to class.  The class will stay in their seats until the bell rings, no exceptions.  There will be a turn in bin for work. Late work will have to be turned in directly to me with an excused absence.  Attendance will be taken using the seating chart.
