Warm-Up Fri. 3/22 Is the economy of the U.S. today comparable to that of the Great Depression? Explain why or why not providing specific examples. Submit this week’s warm- ups once complete.

Today’s Objective: By the end of class, you should be able to answer the questions: How is the Great Depression and the Great Recession similar and how are they different? Which economic event was better? Which was worse?

Double Bubble Groups Get into groups of 4. Divide the reading into 4 sections, 1 for each person to read. As you read your section, look for both similarities and differences between the Great Depression of the 30s and the modern Great Recession. Highlight, underline, and mark the differences verses the similarities. Once your group is done reading, share your similarities and differences with your group members. Each person must make their own double-bubble map to compare and contrast the Great Depression with the Great Recession.

Which event was more impactful: The Great Depression or The Great Recession? In a full paragraph, explain which was more impactful. Use examples from both texts, the double-bubble, background knowledge, and discussions to explain and support your view. You should use at least 4 pieces of evidence to support your point. Main points ___/3pts Evidence (4) ___/4pts Explanations of Evidence ___/3 pts Total ___/10 pts
