Statewide System of Support From Roundtables to Service Teams… North Carolina’s Statewide System of Support is coordinated and monitored primarily through three leadership councils. The leadership structure includes a Senior Leadership Council, a Service Advisory Council, and four Service Support Teams.

Statewide System of Support The Senior Leadership Council is comprised of NCDPI senior leadership – Meets quarterly – Manage the selection of districts and schools that will receive the most intensive support – Monitoring progress toward the priority objectives.

Statewide System of Support The Service Advisory Council is comprised of a core group of division directors – Collect qualitative and quantitative data to identify priority needs across the state – Identifies current initiatives being provided to the region by the agency – Reviews comprehensive needs assessment outcomes – Identifies gaps and redundancies – Targets available resources to identified needs – Routes continued services through NCDPI staff assigned to regions, districts, and schools

Statewide System of Support Four Service Support Teams are comprised of regional NCDPI staff – Analyze data to develop and implement targeted professional learning – Identify and develop resources for educator growth and improvement – Guide LEAs and Charters with effective resource allocation decisions – Assess and modify the quality and alignment of the services provided by the team

What is Indistar®? Indistar® is a web-based tool that guides Leadership Teams (district, school, or both) in charting its improvement and managing the continuous cycle of assessing, planning, implementing, and progress tracking of effective practices. Focus will be clear, responsibilities assigned, efforts synchronized.

Guides improvement teams — whether district, school, or both — through a continuous cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, and progress monitoring. Allows for a “rapid improvement” or turnaround track that includes different indicators than a “continuous improve-ment” track. 11 Indistar ® – School Improvement Planning

14 True or False? Title I funds may only be used to support reading and math. Title I funds may only be used to provide remedial instruction. Title I funds may only be used to serve low- achieving students. Title I funds may only be used for instruction. Title I funds may not be used to support children below the age of compulsory attendance.

15 But what if…? An LEA does not have sufficient non-Federal funds to provide even the most basic education program in all its schools. An LEA is required by State or local law to provide funding for a specific purpose for all students.

16 How is the money used? Approximately $400,000,000 supports the salaries of instructional staff that work directly with students.
