What Is the R-2000 Program? It is a program run by the government that offers an environmentally beneficial way to built and maintain houses. Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

The R-2000 Standard Strict criteria for a house to qualify to be certified as R Performance based standard, not construction Use approximately 30% less energy! Heating, cooling and ventilation = high performance and efficient.

The Ten Most Important Things to Know About R-2000 A way of building homes, not a specific design. Strict technical requirements Everyone who works on an R-2000 house a specific license It’s a choice Updated periodically

Testing and verification from beginning to end. Hard-earned certificate There is no equivalent certificate Environmentally responsible housing The Ten Most Important Things to Know About R-2000

Construction Options Construction Method: Woof framing, metal framing or insulated concrete Insulation and Air-sealing : The R-2000 builder will choose (usually a recycled material) Heating and Cooling Systems: Almost any system is accepted after examination

Design: Generally any design is possible even though the open concept working and living areas design is preferable. Light: Very bright and sunny due to a lot of efficiently placed windows Finishing Touches: Anything, although R-2000 homes require water-saving plumbing fixtures and a certain number of “healthy” products that promote clean air.
