R2000 is a series of technical requirements for new home performance and construction.
Began in the 1970s to develop comfortable homes for frigid Prairie winters
Formalized in 1981, since then over R2000 homes have been built
Program is managed by Natural Resources Canada
Construction and standards are periodically upgraded
