Presentation transcript:

Challenge 6: Mobility, Environmental sustainability and energy efficiency Includes as driving objective: “Sustainable growth and environmental sustainability” With focus on ICT research: – To decouple economic growth and environmental degradation – To move towards a cleaner, safer and healthier environment – To reduce environmental risk on society – To improve energy efficiency – To improve efficiency in the use of raw materials/natural resources In connection to other activities under the i2010 initiative awareness, take-up measures large scale pilots policy support

: ICT for environmental management and energy efficiency ICT for environmental management « Towards a Single Information Space for the Environment in Europe » –Collaborative systems for environmental management From monitoring to reporting, management, alert and response Enhanced capacity to assess population exposure and health risk Visionary concepts, as well as evolutionary integrated systems Generic solutions with prime validation focus on water and air –Coordination and Support Actions Adoption of common open architectures (INSPIRE, GMES, GEOSS) ICT research for disaster risk reduction and emergency management ERA-Net in the field of ICT for environmental sustainability ICT for energy efficiency –ICT for energy-intensive products, services and processes Design and simulation of energy profiles over the life cycle Monitoring and business models for energy production/distribution/use Efficient management of local power grids Towards energy-neutral living and working environments –Coordination and Support Actions

i2010 A Single European Information Space  The completion of a Single European Information Space which promotes an open and competitive internal market for information society and media Innovation and investment in research  Strengthening Innovation and Investment in ICT research to promote growth and more and better jobs Inclusion, better public services and quality of life  Achieving an Inclusive European Information Society that promotes growth and jobs in a manner that is consistent with sustainable development and that prioritises better public services and quality of life

SISEE Interoperability and standards –Use of standards solving the conflicts doing business –Meet the needs of different stakeholders Security and legal aspects –Ensure the needed level of trust in the SISEE –transparency and accessibility of Directives –easy and cheap security mechanisms adopted by SMEs Application for SMEs –the complexity of the SEEM framework hidden to SMEs –access simple and cheap –following European Directives –Possibilities: partner search, to avoid waste of resources Consumer trust and protection –Transparency in the process –non repudiation –privacy, ease of use, certainty of the personal relation.

SISEE technological vision: “secure infrastructure to support knowledge-based fully interoperable eRegistries and eServices”. Implementing technologies: SOA (UDDI, SOAP, WSDL, ebXML Need for URI (Universal Resource Identification Need for a variety of services needed for collaboration: contact, negotiation, conflict resolution, etc.

SISEE Registry and repository network Composed of 4 independent layers Neutral, Open interfaces using webServices Existing Technology where it exists Trialled via an internal testbed

SISEE and CWE Collaborative Working Environments (CWE) are systems providing collaboration services to allow distributed actors to seamlessly work together towards common goals. CWE is one of the drivers for creativity and innovation in a single EU Market, and also in the SISEE. CWE and SISEE share the collaboration focus. But SISEE is also about eEnvironment in general, not only collaboration, regulation and policy.
