Presentation transcript:

A cartographer prepares maps, charts, and drawings from aerial photographs and survey data. They also conduct map research and investigate topics, such as how people use maps.

A Cartographer uses manual and computerized drafting instruments, standard mathematical formulas, photogrammetric techniques, and precision stereo plotting apparatus.

Depending on your amount of knowledge, salary can start at $34,500 and go up to $66,500.

A bachelor’s degree is required, and engineering or physical science are recommended.

Collage programs should include courses in technical math, surveying and measurements, navigation, drafting and photogrametry and mapping.

High school students should take courses in geometry, algebra and trigonometry, mechanical drawing, and computer science.

The way that cartography applies to the park, is that next year we’ll be mapping the entire area of the bay.
