Secret Santa Gift Exchanges Coaches and Staff members may not participate in gift exchanges with student-athletes.

Holiday Cards to Prospects Must be handwritten and on an institutional note card Some impermissible examples of holiday greetings include: Traditional greeting card Institutional note card that has been created as a holiday card with specific holiday greetings printed on or in the card Electronically altered existing institutional note cards that include holiday-themed images or text (e.g., Santa hat) Printed (from a computer) personalized messages inside of an institutional note card E-cards You may post a team photo greeting on our website (e.g., Season’s Greeting from Elon Softball)

Competition Travel During Vacation Period If a student-athlete travels to a site other than the event site during the vacation period, the institution may provide the cost of round-trip transportation for the student-athlete to travel from campus to the event site and back to campus even if the student-athlete does not travel with the team. The student-athlete shall pay only the additional cost associated with traveling to a site other than the event site.

Countable Activities Over Break Did you know? Daily and weekly hour limitations do not apply to countable athletically related activities occurring during an institution’s official vacation period and during the academic year between terms when classes are not in session. Hour limitations are pro-rated during weeks where classes occur during only a portion of the week. If classes are not in session for an entire week, the required day off is no longer mandated Elon’s Winter Term Daily and weekly hour limitations do not apply to countable athletics activities during a member institution’s mini term that is not mandatory.

Other Vacation Expenses Official Visits – Student Hosts – Vacation Period Student-host may not receive expenses for lodging during a vacation period, solely for the purpose of serving as a student-host Meals may be provided Room and Board, Meals – Vacation Period Permissible when required to stay on-campus Cash allowance may be substituted provided it does not exceed the amount provided by the institution to staff members on away from campus trips Unless SA lives at home during vacation period
