Jumper cables A friend with a working car
1 st : Open the hood of both cars 2 nd : Connect the positive (red) end of the jumper cables to the positive knob (it should be labeled with a +) of the dead battery.
3 rd : Connect the positive (red) end of the jumper cables to the positive knob (it should be labeled with a +) of the working battery.
4 th : Connect the negative (black) end of the jumper cables to the negative knob (it should be labeled with a -) of the working battery.
5 th : Connect the negative (black) end of the jumper cables to a metal part of the car with the dead battery (normally a knob on the engine block that isn’t painted works fine) 6 th : Have your friend start their car 7 th : Start your car 8 th : Have your friend turn their car off
9 th : Remove all cables and close all hoods 10 th : Leave your car running for at least a half an hour to recharge your alternator
