Dante and Virgil walk down a dark well beneath the Antaeus, the giants feet The come up to a frozen lake of Cocytus Dante describes the lake as if a mountain slid on it the ice would not crack And it stretches so far out in looks a bit like water and glass He feels a gravitational force pushed to center, since it is considered to be the center of the earth

Traitors to their kin They are immersed in the ice Heads are bent down Crying Teeth chattering Dante then sees to sinners and their hair in entangled and goes to asked them who they are Unfortunately, because of all the crying their mouths are frozen shut and they keep ramming each others head

He speaks up and tells Dante they are the Bisenzio brothers, who killed each other over politics and inheritance He then tells Dante other souls who are punish their Such as Mordred, who betrayed his father, King Arthur, Foccaccia, a guy who killed his cousin, and Sassol Mascheroni, who also killed a relative, but is also blocking the view of Camiscione dei Pazzi He identifies himself, and he killed a kinsman for political power.

Traitors to their Homeland or Party Still on the lake but they are moving toward the center In this circle we find Bocca Also we find Buoso da Duera who betrayed the ruler of Naples to his enemy, Beccheria a churchman executed for treason Gianni dei Soldanieri who switched parties Ganelon and Tebaldello who are traitors to their country

While walking Dante accidentally kicks a Bocca’s face, apologizes and ask who he is, and says he can spread his name to the living. Bocca doesn’t say who he is and says he wants to be left alone with no fame or flattery Dante then threatens him to tell his name and grabs him by the scruff or Dante will pull all his hairs out but Bocca is not moved by it Dante then starts pulling out hairs to make him scream, then another souls tells Bocca to shut up and says his name Dante the says since he would not talk he would spread his reputation to the living. Which is betraying his party at the battle of Montaperto in Bocca then tells him of other sinners that are also in the same ring as he is.

At the end of Canto 32 Dante sees to other souls He describes them as one head using another for a cap As the other chews on the nape of the first as if he was chewing on bread Dante then ask who they are and give them renown fame on earth
