 Most of the workers that had to work on the boat (jermal) were children. The task of the job was basically straight forward. You were to catch, sort, and boil the fish. During the 12 hours that they worked, they would also have to haul gigantic nets onto the boat. Just imagine a little child doing that. Another job that they have is agriculture. This is the main place for children to work. 2 in 3 of child workers aged 13 to 15 actually worked in Agriculture. Its basically children working on farms, so its different from the Jermals. Britain (1800’s)  In the Industrial Revolution, many working children were forced to work long overtime shifts. Sometimes that was a good thing, because they earn more money, but its also a bad thing because the children could have more chances to hurt themselves. They spent most of their time in the mills. It was a hard life for the children, and sometimes often a short one.

In Indonesia, many children didn’t work in the city, they were either on farms, or working on the jermals. The city was just filled with other working family members. In the Industrial Revolution, people could no longer remain in the communities. Children had to go to the factories to work, which were usually in the larger cities where more children lived.

Indonesia had a very huge population. But unfortunately most of the children ranging from 5-15 years of age were child labourers. The Industrial Revolution’s population increased dramatically. Many people moved from the country side to the cities.

In Indonesia, they are very rich in their energy sources. The main resources that Indonesia, and the Industrial Revolution don’t have in common are nickel, copper, gold, and tin. The Industrial Revolution had a cheap source of power, and they also had many colonies.

There are not many similarities that I could find between Indonesia now, and the Industrial Revolution in the 1800’s. But I did manage to find some. A similarity in resources would be that their main source was coal. In jobs, the children would always have something to do, there was no slacking, they had to get the job done. They also hired children around the same age. For around the city, child labourers didn’t work in the city. They were either working on farms, jermals, or working in factories. One other similarity that I noticed was, that children can get hurt really easily, it is definitely not safe enough.
