Presentation transcript:

Miners all over California were starting to mine all day and night after gold had been discovered in Farmers like my neighbor in Cincinnati, Ohio were starting to wear Levi Strauss’ new and popular blue jeans. Americans all over were starting to love playing and watching baseball. Howdy y’all I’m William Howard Taft. The 27 th president of the amazing United States of America. I was born to Alphonso and Louise Taft; my parents. I was born on September 15,1857. I was brought home to a gigantic house in Cincinnati, Ohio. I had many siblings: Henry, Horace, Charles, Peter, and petite, little Louise. If you can’t already tell my mother wanted a daughter. In school I had a lot of friends ‘cause I’m VERY funny!! Haha!! My friends teased me about my weight, but that didn’t stop me from making new jokes every day. My friends and peers called me Will. It’s short for William. Personally William sounds like an old man’s name, not a kid’s.

As I was sayin’ earlier, many people all over America were starting to love sports. Alexander Cartwright had invented baseball in 1845 so it had been around for awhile before I was born. Again, around five years ago track and field sprung an interest in Americans all over. Back to my school life. Now, where was I?? I was not a very intelligent student, probably average, but my grades would have been a lot worse if my parents hadn’t pushed me to get good grades and made me study hard. My father didn’t like me playing sports. He thought education was the MOST important thing. In 1874 I graduated from High School. I did well in school at that point from all of that studying. Before I went to the college: Yale, I still live din my hometown: Cincinnati. Oh, good old Cincinnati. I was the second graduate in my class. I worked very hard to graduate. I graduated in Boy, was I glad for that to be over. After all I did study hard. In my adulthood I despised politics.

My dream was to be in the supreme court. After I graduated from Yale, I still lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, my hometown. Oh, sweet Ohio. Ah, thinking about the supreme court makes me jump with joy. Meanwhile, President William McKinley sent me to the Philippines to help to build schools, courts, and more. Later I served in the U.S. circuit court. In my young adulthood I had always admired Helen Herron. In 1886, I got married to her. I gave her the nickname “Nellie” to tell herself apart from our daughter Helen. I also had two sons named Robert and Charles. In 1908 I decided to run for President. This was the biggest decision of my life. I didn’t want to at all though and Theodore Roosevelt was pushing me to run. I finally agreed. I would have loved to have taken a job in the Supreme Court. My vice president was James S. Sherman. We won the election by a landslide on March 4, After all, I am pretty amazing. I was hilariously overweight and got stuck in a bathtub. My wife loved the

White House. I didn’t. In 1909 the Dollar Diplomacy started. This took place worldwide. The U.S. was starting to try to gain economic power. We wanted to stabilize foreign policies. This sadly failed despite my wonderful efforts. After presidency I became Chief Justice. This was my dream job!! Sadly, I died on March 8, I am buried at Arlington National Cemetery. It’s in Virginia. I had small heart attacks. I really hope y’all really have better toilets than people did in my time. QUESTIONS: Who did I admire in my early adulthood?? Who were my children?? What was my dream job that I got after my term?? Who was my vice president?? Where did I live all of my life?? How did I die??
