Mrs. Hein’s Weekly News September 12, 2013 We had a wonderful first two weeks of school! Way to go Kindergarten Kiddos! I am happy to see that the boys and girls are learning to follow established classroom routines and are listening and following the rules. Next week we will begin to use our Behavior books…this week we have been practicing what good behavior looks like. Behavior books will be sent home each day and this will be an important folder for you to check daily to see how your kiddo behaved throughout the day. We are working on trying to stay on Ready to Learn Behavior which is yellow ALSO…be sure to check your child’s take home folder for any important papers that need to be signed, looked over, or sent back to school! Thanks for helping your kiddo (and me) with this matter! Kindergarten Earned their first RAINBOW REWARD…ask them what they got as a special treat! Language Arts This week we read some great stories on manners. We have been talking about using good manners in school! Ask your kiddo about good manners! We also read a story called We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. As we read the story, we used different colored crayons to make different handwriting strokes on our papers. We even started our Lead 21 first unit All About ME! We have also been learning about a letter a day with the letters Aa, Bb, and Cc. Please be sure to place your child’s yellow folder in a safe place at home to review these fun rhyming charts and go on a letter hunt too! SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behavior System) We went onto the school bus with Mrs. Aulisio, our principal, Mrs. Bankos our guidance counselor, and all of KG to review bus safety. (The bus didn’t go anywhere…we just got to practice being safe on the bus!) We now know a little jingle to help us be safe…BACK to BACK and BOTTOM to BOTTOM. On Thursday morning, we had a school wide assembly in the gym. The kiddos got to see skits and video clips about our school wide behavior system. It was great to watch and learn! They also got to meet the Kratzer Cougar! The PM kiddos will get a chance to meet our Cougar on another day as well as watch the videos too Math WOW…great job with math concepts this week such as…. *Inside and Outside*Over, Under, On *Top, Middle, Bottom*Left and Right Please go over these concept words with your kiddo at home too. We even enjoyed playing the Hokey Pokey to help with Left and Right as well as well as a fun sorting game for Top, Middle, and Bottom. Please be sure to work on the Family Fun Homework poster which is due back at school by: Wednesday, Sept. 18th. Stay tuned for details as we approach our first math test Reminders/IMPORTANT INFO. ** Please keep your child's red take home folder in their backpack at all times. Please check it daily and remove any papers in Pocket 2 that are to be kept home, sending back any in Pocket 1 when they are completed. ***Please send in a smock or old t-shirt for art class if you haven’t done so already. Place it in a large zip lock baggie with your kiddos name on. *** ***For GYM CLASS ~ Mr. Kleintop, the gym teacher, would like all students to wear shoes that tie in the front or have velcro on them and are secure to wear. Slip on shoes will not be acceptable footwear for class. He wants all of the children to be safe. Thank you for your help with this matter! IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Each week your child will be able to take out a book during his/her library day. Next week your child will bring home a new book to read….PLEASE be sure your child returns this book back to school on the correct Library Day….which is DAY 2! You may want to write this on your child’s Special Days calendar that went home earlier in the year. THANK YOU!!! Kidstuff BOOKS ~ Due by September 18 th OPEN HOUSE ~ Sept. 19 th 7-8:30pm (more information to come) PICTURE DAY~ Sept. 27 th (more info. to come) DONATIONS PLEASE: Baby wipes for the classroom and large ziplock baggies
