UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 UTP - Underwater Technology Park ® A joint effort to secure, strengthen and expand Norwegian underwater technology and business

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 Background Norway has a leading position in the world wide arena of underwater technology, built from the offshore oil and gas E&P industry. Also, there are a lot of innovative work being done with respect to downhole technology and methods. The Norwegians are highly recognized, world wide, as frontiers in this arena. Also, it is widely known that there are an entrepreneurial spirit in this industry in Norway - A fact seen nowhere else in the world! By combining knowledge and technology from the domestic companies + international partners as required, Norway can develop new leading edge technology and methods. Co-operation! Stavanger is where all the major well service companies are located, and where there are highest concentration of smaller wellbore technology companies in Norway

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 Background The domestic arena will grow in size, and there will be a requirement for new innovative and much more cost efficient solutions. The Norwegian companies must focus on technology for greater depths, new geographic areas, new solutions purpose built for these new areas, smarter pricing, and new type of co-operations We also believe that technology on, and methods to install and maintain new energy sources, will be a natural development for the oil and gas focused industry.

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 The location Stavanger – Åmøy: min Sola – Åmøy: min No toll fee through the tunnel from 2005 The majority of the personnel working on Åmøy drive against the traffic during rush hour Owner is Rennbase AS which is held by: Halvor Hodnefjell Jostein Finnesand Ove Hegland Joar Gangenes The Carter Group, Inc. Vendere Eiendom AS Matheus Hodnefjell

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 Phase 1: m2 Phase 2: Optional additional m2 Deepwater quay Good access for larger vessels Older NATO infrastructure A large quantity of sheltered, bomb and terrorist protected very large mountain halls - Provides superior safety for data, computer systems and personnel Beautiful surrounding area Nearest area to the South is being developed to yacht club A unique location, seen nowhere else in the region!

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 This is not what we or growing technology leading environments want! We want atmosphere, nice surroundings, style, direct access to the sea, etc.

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 Create a center where underwater and wellbore technology and service companies, small and large, work together. Direct access to sheltered shallow and deep water for testing and demonstrations. IBM

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 The Uniqueness The location Sea, fjords, mountains, woods, farms, fishing The immediate access to water Testing of underwater technology and methods. Sheltered water (where smooth water are present even in very bad weather) The Think Tank Direct view onto the sheltered sea floor, where demonstration and testing of equipment can take place in front of the clients/audience The Untouched No buildings exist today, and therefore we can create a center where no rules like “This is how we build it” exist - It shall be a location that the habitants and guests find unique and worthy to present to domestic and international business partners and clients

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 UTP - The Vision UTP shall create an environment with leading edge knowledge and technology within underwater and downhole technology, where companies and educational institutions work closely together towards an international network where business- and technology development have a strong focus. UTP shall inspire, be a catalyst for domestic and international cooperation, business development and improvement, and work towards export of new profitable solutions. UTP will be an area with international leading expertise focused on the international petroleum industry, alternative (underwater) energy generation and other arenas where underwater knowledge, experience and technology creates the foundation for new business opportunities (as e.g. offshore fish/shellfish farming, sea bed well interventions, sea bed drilling, terrorist safe computer/operations center within the mountain halls, etc.) UTP shall be regarded as The Center in Norway having the world leading knowledge within underwater and wellbore technology.

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 UTP shall inspire and reward creativity, inspire to co-operation between companies, help technology and business development, make available an international network of suppliers, individual personnel and customers, provide guidance on new technology and market opportunities, provide guidance and assistance to investors as well as entrepreneurs and companies seeking investors UTP shall develop new tools and methods that cannot be developed within one company, simply because this company does not have internally all the right competence, technology and market contact

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 UTP shall contain: Technology companies focusing on underwater, downhole and reservoir optimization Smaller technology teams from oil companies, focused on underwater and/or downhole technology and operations - Inclusive reservoir optimization Educational facilities with close co-operation with the habitants in the UTP, where students can work within the companies located there on special projects A co-operation with underwater/downhole educational facilities in The Netherlands, UK, USA, etc. - Exchange of knowledge, ideas and lecturers. An open environment where the technology companies guide the lecturers on areas that should be focused on, emerging technology and needs, etc. Co-operation with domestic and international business parks and research centers Mountain halls providing maximum safety for computer centers, operations centers for remote operation of offshore fields, etc.

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 UTP shall contain: Facilities for small conferences, presentations, etc. This shall also to the largest degree possible co-operate with the educational system connected to UTP A presentation room where direct view to the underwater environment at the UTP, where technology can be viewed and demonstrated Co-operation with local farmers and fisherman, to create good co-operation and an environment for fresh quality food A small common restaurant, with the promotion and preparation of local food An exhibition area for the companies located there, educational institutes and related professional societies

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 UTP shall also be: A place where new ideas and concepts can be presented and tested to a forum of experts for evaluation and guidance A location where new step change projects are run, where the SME’s are co-operating to create successful business A location where ”wild” ideas are brought into real solutions, like for example; Step-changing EOR methods and technology New concepts for innovative seabed well intervention New methods for subsea production from marginal fields Seabed drilling Rig-less, umbilical based, drilling robotics Autonomous well intervention robots Remote operation and monitoring of fields (e-fields) Underwater and offshore power plants Remotely operated and monitored offshore fish/shell farming Plus many other ideas

UTP - Underwater Technology Park © H. Hansen 2005 And who would UTP be of interest for: Statoil, ConocoPhillips, Norsk Hydro, Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, Agip, and similar Aker Kværner, Kongsberg Offshore, ABB, Oceaneering, Acergy, Halliburton, Ziebel, Poseidon, Norse and similar Computer science companies with special focus on the petroleum industry Stavanger University, NTNU, plus other international educational institutions and technology parks Drilling contractors and vessel owners Other international underwater contractors (Superior, CalDive, Wellops, Osca, Cybern é tix, Canyon Offshore, etc.) Companies in the offshore abandonment business Domestic and international investment companies, also linked to ”business angels” Patent and business lawyer(s)
